Mirrors, Lighting and Fixtures

These bits are the jewelry of the furnishings world. Although there are still functional concerns--the light has to illuminate the room--these pieces lend themselves to more extravagant and original decorative forms.  We work in a large range of styles from edgy, industrial to more traditional interpretations of 18th century historical designs. We work with wood, mirror, mica, stone and tile, but we also enlist local blacksmiths and glassworkers when required by the project.

A circa 1900 Carrera marble sink top from an architectural salvage yard provided the starting point for this "steampunk" mirror and vanity. We fitted the top with traditional English taps, then fabricated an iron base and stainless steel sink for contrast. The mirror isn't Victorian; it just looks it. We chemically distressed the silvering of the mirror to imitate antique glass, then added light fixtures we assembled from old parts. The frame is rosewood and fir with a linseed oil finish.
